Please be aware of an aggressive email phishing scam that has potential to impact many of our Soldiers and all USAA members.

USAA's Enterprise Security Group has discovered an aggressive email phishing scam directed at USAA members. The email contains the subject: "Deposit Posted". What makes this particular phishing email different is there is a randomly generated four-digit number placed in the USAA Security Zone section.

Also, they don't include first and last name so it doesn't take much to distinguish these fake emails.

While the email does not ask the recipient to click on a link, it does ask the member to open a Zeus-infected attached file. When this file is opened it launches a malicious banking virus this if successfully launched could provide access to your personal information and may require a complete reinstall of your computer operating system.

What members should do:

1. Make certain the four digits in the security zone section match the last four of your USAA member number.

2. If the numbers do not match your member information you can delete it or forward it to abuse@usaa.com
